Privacy Policy

Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the GrahaMitra mobile app and to this website (www.grahamitra.co.in). GrahaMitra is currently operated by an individual developer, not yet a registered company — Sriram Arivazhagan — trading as GrahaMitra. If you have questions about this policy, reach us through the Support screen inside the app (Settings → Support), or email support@grahamitra.co.in.
What we collect
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Phone number | To sign you in via a one-time passcode (OTP). This is the only way we identify your account. |
| Full name | Shown on your chart and reports. |
| Date, time and place of birth (including the coordinates and timezone we resolve from the place you enter) | Required to compute your birth chart. This is the core input to everything the app does — without it, nothing can be generated. |
| Gender | Used only where classical astrology techniques depend on it (e.g. certain dasha/compatibility calculations). |
| Questions you type in chat, and the readings/reports the app generates for you | Stored so you can come back and read them again, and to answer follow-up questions in context. |
| Short notes the app keeps from your chats (for example, that you're preparing for an exam, or that you have two children) | So later answers take your situation into account without you repeating it. You can see and remove them in the app. |
| Family members and partners you add: their name, relationship, gender, and date, time and place of birth | To compute their charts and compatibility reports. This is other people's information, so please add someone only if they're happy for you to. |
| Life events you record (for example, a job change or a wedding, with its date), and the predictions the app has made for you with their outcomes | To time readings against your own history, and to keep an honest record of what the app said and whether it happened. |
| Support requests you send from the app, and our replies | To answer you and keep a record of the conversation. |
| A notification registration for your phone (a token issued by Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging), if you turn on daily notifications | To send your daily reading notification. It identifies the app on your phone, not you, and is deleted when you sign out, turn notifications off, or delete your account. |
| Server logs: your IP address, the time and type of each request, and any errors | To keep the service secure and to find and fix bugs. Kept for up to 30 days. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising software. |
We do not ask for or store payment card details, bank details, or government ID. Paid credits/subscriptions are not yet available in the app; when they launch, this policy will be updated first to say exactly what a payment processor (expected to be Google Play Billing) sees.
Who we share it with
Only the processors that make the app work — never sold, never rented, never shared for advertising:
- Google Cloud Platform — hosts our servers and database. Your data is stored on Google's infrastructure, encrypted in transit.
- Google Gemini — your birth details and questions are sent to Google's AI models to generate your chart interpretation, readings and chat replies. Google processes this as our subprocessor under their API terms; it is not used to train their public models.
- MSG91 — an SMS delivery provider. Only your phone number is shared with them, solely to deliver your one-time login code.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers the daily notification to your phone, if you turn it on. It receives the notification's text and your phone's notification registration.
Who inside GrahaMitra can see it
Our support team can look up an account to help with a problem you raise, for example to correct a birth time you entered wrongly, add credits, or delete an account on request. Every change made this way is recorded with the reason for it. Support never sees your OTP codes, and sees only the last few characters of your phone's notification registration, enough to tell two phones apart.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. If you don't use the app, we don't currently delete your data automatically — deletion is something you control directly (see below), not something that happens to you on a timer. After you delete your account, your data remains in our daily database backups for up to 7 days, until they roll over; backups are used only to recover from a failure.
Deleting your data
Open the app → Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, birth details, charts, readings, and chat history from our servers — it is a real deletion, not a deactivation, and it cannot be undone. If you don't have the app, you can delete your account on this website by confirming your phone number with a one-time code. That page also explains exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Most of this you can already do yourself in the app (editing your profile, deleting your account); for anything else, reach us through the app's Support screen or at support@grahamitra.co.in, and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Children
GrahaMitra is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters — especially once payments launch — we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you inside the app.
